Coin ceremony....Post done by Big Daddy

Today was the coin ceremony...A proud moment for the Airmen. As they receive the coin it signifies their transition from trainee to Airmen. The story behind the Airmen coin dates back to World War 2. A downed airmen caught behind enemy lines had put on a German uniform and worked his way back to the front. There he made contact with an allied unit, thinking him an enemy combatant or spy they were going to execute him when the airmen pulled from his pocket his unit coin.....Thus saving his life.

Keagan was voted to the position of Dorm Chief by his fellow Airmen. As Dorm chief he called cadence and marched the flight into the parade grounds sounding off loud and proud. Keagan assisted the MTI (drill sgt) hand out the airmen coins to his fight. Proud moment for us to be sure and you could see the pride he had doing it.

After the ceremony they give you permission to tap out your airmen. This is the first time in 8 1/2 weeks you can hug them and see their smiling face. We sent Megan (Keagan's Fiance') down to tap him out (the airmen have to remain at attention until someone taps them out). Kelly was filming the moment as the rest of us followed. Uncle Mark, Aunt Kimmie, Cousin Patrick all got to take part. Very emotional moment....

The excitement was simply to much
